A Huge Success and Fantastic Day of Fun
in Support of Homebound Seniors!
On October 18th, close to 1,000 riders supported by our generous volunteers, sponsors and vendors, joined us at Shadow Cliffs Park in Pleasanton for the 6th Annual Wheels for Meals Ride. The day was an overwhelming success, highlighted by delicious food, great music, and a smooth ride through the beautiful Livermore Valley. Riders took off on their choice of a 15, 35 or 70 mile route, stopping off along the ways for refreshments and to enjoy the festivities that awaited at the fun movie themed rest stops. Following the ride, they returned to the Park where they enjoyed an excellent post-ride BBQ with live music from 925 Rock and Roll Party Band, vendor booths, massage, games and more refreshments.
To accompany the fun and games, the day was marked by an unmistakable sense of community. Our riders, volunteers, and sponsors were unified by a shared mission to nourish our high risk homebound senior neighbors. Many thanks to our volunteers, sponsors, and fundraisers. You all gave of your time, talent and/or resources and collectively made the 6th Annual Wheels for Meals Ride a big success! Our genuine gratitude also goes out to ValleyCare Health System for providing and preparing the delicious BBQ lunch year after year.
All funds raised through this event directly supports Alameda County Meals on Wheels meal delivery, companionship and safety checks to more than 2,100 homebound seniors daily! We have asked that all riders fundraise a minimum of $150. The ride may be over but the effort to feed homebound seniors is ongoing. Fundraising pages will be active until November 15th. You can still reach your goal and earn great prizes! Be our top fundraiser and receive (2) tickets anywhere Southwest flies!
